IoT platform for real-time environmental monitoring using ESP32, LoRa, Laravel, React, and PostgreSQL.
Description
METEOR is an IoT platform developed to monitor environmental variables in real time through a weather station connected to a modern web application. The system collects data from multiple sensors, transmits it wirelessly using LoRa, stores historical measurements, and provides interactive dashboards for monitoring and analysis.
This project was developed collaboratively by Oscar Salazar, Ximena Amador Morante, and Mario Alberto Flores Montellano as part of an academic engineering project.
My Role
As a Full Stack Developer, I participated in the design and development of both the web platform and the integration between the IoT hardware and the backend services, ensuring reliable data collection, storage, and visualization.
- Developed backend modules responsible for receiving and processing environmental data.
- Built administrative dashboards for monitoring real-time and historical weather information.
- Integrated communication between ESP32 devices, LoRa modules, and the web platform.
- Implemented user authentication, role management, and administrative features.
- Collaborated on the overall software architecture and hardware-software integration.
Key Features
- Real-time monitoring of environmental variables.
- Automatic acquisition of weather data from ESP32-based stations.
- Long-range wireless communication using LoRa technology.
- Historical measurement storage for analysis and reporting.
- Interactive charts and dashboards for data visualization.
- User authentication and administration panel.
- Scalable architecture designed for future sensor expansion.
Impact
METEOR provides a centralized platform for collecting, storing, and visualizing environmental information in real time. The project improves weather data accessibility, supports research and decision-making, and demonstrates the integration of IoT technologies with modern full-stack web development.
